I was also facing the same issue i tried to do the following steps, hope it will work for you.

    1. Click on Start - - > Run.
    2. Type regedit
    3. Find the key:

      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\au

    4. In the right pane, look for a key called noautoupdate
    5. Change the value from 1 to 0.
    6. Save it and reboot your PC.

Now you would be able to check the Automatic updates on.

There is one more way of turning automatic updates ON by using Dial- a -fix software.

    For downloading link here:-

    Download

I am sure it will solve your problem for sure without going to registry and taking a risk.
