Vista Update issue error code 8000ffff

Hi all,

I am facing issue in updating vista machine. Not even a sinsle patch get updated. All the office updates are getting updated.


Any solution slease...

Before we go further, I would like to confirm the following points with you:

1. When does the update issue occur?

2. Is it a standalone computer? Is this computer the only one in this environment (network)?

3. Which update package cannot be installed? A specific one or all?

In addition, please perform the following steps to rename SoftwareDistribution and Catroot2 folders.

Rename SoftwareDistribution and Catroot2 folders using BAT file

1. Click Start, type notepad in Start Search box, and press Enter.
2. Copy the following commands and then paste them into the open Notepad window:

net stop wuauserv
net stop Cryptsvc
ren %windir%\SoftwareDistribution SD.old
ren %windir%\system32\catroot2 catroot2.old
net start wuauserv
net start Cryptsvc


3. After pasting the above commands, please close the Notepad window. Choose Save when you are prompted to save the file. Type "register.bat" as the file name and choose Desktop from the left panel as the location.
4. Refer to the Desktop and right click the register.bat file, choose Run as administrator.
5. You will see a DOS-like window processing.



After that, please check if the issue is resolved.
If it persists, please collect the following information for further research:



1. WindowsUpdate.log

1.1. Click Start, type %windir% in Start Search box, and press Enter.
1.2. Please upload the WindowsUpdate.log to the following space:

2. System Information
--------------

2.1. Click Start, type msinfo32 on the Start Search box
2.2. On the System Information window, and click File, click Save to export the system information to a .NFO file.
2.3. Upload the file to the same space

Cannot Update Windows using Windows Update ?

Broadly speaking, you can try one or more or all of these :
Run CCleaner to clear up PC Junk. Also flush the Software Distribution Folder. Reboot. If you are using WindowsUpdate try using MicrosoftUpdates and vice versa.

If you still cannot Update Windows Vista using WindowsUpdate, try this :
Open Internet Explorer > Tools >Internet Options > Security > Click 'trusted sites' icon >Click Sites > uncheck 'require server verification'.
Then add following sites :

http://*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com
http://*.windowsupdate.com
http://update.microsoft.com
http://update.microsoft.com/microsof...6/default.aspx
