    Exclamation Account is locked out...

    Hi all,

I am using a file server which is windows 2003 server configured with AD as well. I have a linux machine. When the user from linux machine trying to access files from the windows server with his AD username and password, and quitting it comming back his account is getting locked.

This happens each and every time when he connects to the file server basically from linux machine to windows machine.

    What may be the issue...

    Regards,
    Antony.

The "Reset Account Lockout Counter" value defines the time after which the number of incorrect typed passwords is reset.
That is, if you type an incorrect password, it will remember that you typed an incorrect password for x minutes. After the time x has elapsed (without further incorrect passwords), the incorrect password count will be reset to 0.
The "Account Lockout Duration" is the time an account is locked after the number of incorrect logon attempts has been reached.
If the RALC would be higher than the ALD, then you'd still have the bad logon counter on high, even though the account would be able to logon again, resulting in another immediate lockout.

    Thanks, Sounds great...

Is there any method to prevent the account from locking out by doing some changes in the password policy in AD...

Just logging in to the windows server from linux machine with correct password is also leading to the account locked.

    Regards
    Antony.

Go to control panel -> select User account select user then remove the password.

I just wanted to say that, this user is not a local user. It is a user configured in Active Directory.

A success login attempt is also leading to account lock.

The link smb://machine name/path is typed from a linux machine to access a particular windows file server. It will prompt for username, password, domain name.

When we type in these credentials and say enter the account gets locked..

    Antony.
