Pci.sys file is missing or damaged
To solve this problem it is necessary to extract the original file from the Windows CD-ROM, here's how:

    • To learn more about the Recovery Console
    • to the C: \ Windows> and while, of the space type the following commands:
    • C: \ Windows> cd system32 \ drivers and press Enter
    • C: \ Windows \ system32 \ drivers> ren Pci.sys pci.old and press Enter
    • C: \ Windows \ system32 \ drivers> expand d: \ i386 \ pcy.sy_ and press Enter(do not forget the sign which is just after the y de. sy)
    • C: \ Windows \ system32 \ drivers> exit and press Enter to restart the computer.

Now Start a console from the boot disks or CD-ROM, Place the Windows XP CD into the CD-ROM. Start your computer. When the computer boot from the floppy or CD-ROM, the system checks the hardware, and then prompts you to choose from the following options:

To install Windows XP now, press ENTER.
To repair a Windows XP installation, press R.
To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.
    ENTER= Continue R =Repairer F3=Quitter ENTER = Continue R = Repair F3 = Exit

    Press the [R]
When the next screen appears, answer the various questions that are asked.

Enter the Administrator password or escape if no password.

When asked "Which Windows installation would you like to open a session" type the number 1 and press Enter.
If you have a multiple-boot computer, type the number corresponding to install Windows XP on which you want to open a session when you are prompted, and then press Enter.

When the C: \ Windows> Type the command appears to solve your problem.

I can not be categorical, do you have a newer version of windows XP or vista just to test, even after a format ? why don't you do that and see what happen.

No, I think it is preferable to leave the bios unchanged for the time being, if we want to know where the problem is needed by step

However, if Media Centre 2005 sets in, use it to update the BIOS at the time.
