I use Linux, how do convert .mp4 files from my cellphone to .avi so that i can view them on my computer? Somebody help!!

Try Synaptic. It's a fairly friendly program for first-timers, and there's a good range of options so you can fine-tune your conversion to what you need. It can handle MP4 to AVI just fine.
