    Folder views randomly changes

    hi,
    i have Q6600 @ 3GHz
    Abit IP35-E
    2x2GB Mushkin Ram
    HIS 4850
    320GB Seagate - 250 Samsung - 80GB IBM
Cherry + MX518,running windows vista.i want to know that how i ican stop chaing view of folder.
It always happens to me when i select any folder view suppose "icon" it remains as it is but after some time it suddenly changes to "details".

Does anyone know why this happens, and what I can do to stop it
happening? I understand there are some registry keys which control this,
but I don't see why they would keep randomly changing like this.

Are you using any "system cleaner" such as CCleaner in the interim? If so.
you may be deleting the saved settings.

When you have folder views set to your liking use the tools drop down menu /folder options /view tab then click apply to folders.

You might have to go to folder options first to enable 'always show menus' in the view tab.

I installed SP1 it appeared that it fixed the problem. Once I change them to my preferred view they stay. One example was the Control Panel icons. Pre-SP1 they would always change back to something other then my preferred view of Medium Icons. After SP1 the view setting hasn't changed. With folders I prefer to use List view for files. These have been sticking as well.

    hi,
It is a known "feature" or "bug" depending on your view. In short the design consideration that causes this is Vista trying to help. Most people instead of thanking the boys of Redmond instead curse them, because this is just one backward example of Microsoft logic that mostly frustrates users.
there are few step which solve the problem.

The root folder only changed type once, and I think that was actually on
the old machine. Several folders have seemingly randomly changed type on
the new machine though. On the new machine, system restore shows several
restore points going back to when I first got it. I'm not sure that
would help though, if it has actually been a problem from the start.
