How many times can i use Windows Xp product key?

I would like to know that how many times can i use the Windows Xp product key? Can any one tell me that whats the exact limit after which a product key become invalid?

As far as the activation over internet is concern it's about 30 times. After trying for number of times you will get automatically an error message. It will state that you had exceeded the limit. For activating your product key you have to use your phone by using 8 blocks of 6 numbers given by the OS.

Before that it used to come up with 5 blocks of 5 letters and numbers.

Therefore your product key never becomes invalid and if you want to re-install you have to activate it over the phone and that too on a free phone number. It's just a restriction on one way you can do it.

Once you activate a given Product Key so many times, the automatic online activation system is programmed to "reject" the attempt.

Follow the instructions your computer normally gives you and do a telephonic activation, selecting the prompt to speak with a live activation representative, who will ask a few questions, the purpose of which are to make sure you are using your copy of Windows in accordance with the End User Licensing Agreement (EULA).

They will then issue a new activation code that you copy into the relevant box

Once you have it you can use it many times you want. Just register your key to use it legally and download updates from Microsoft. This will of course not allow others to take advantage of it. It will be used upon verification when downloading updates and for tech support purposes...
