    hi
    use this ling for Pidgin
    http://www.pidgin.im/

    Start Pidgin first. The following screen appears.

    Click 'Accounts' and then' Manage Accounts'. You can also use Ctrl + A. A window. In this window click on "Add." In the window that now appears, you must fill out different things.

    Protocol: Select "IRC" from the list of protocols.

    User: Enter your username

    Enter Server name

    Password: Enter your password if you have registered

    Then, in order to gain access . Enter your code followed by pressing the Enter key.
    Code
    1 / join # "name of server "

    now you are logged in the that server IRC channel. You can view this channel on the tab # server button.

    Re: IRc on Pidgin

    Hi.
    ok try this ,
    Open Pidgin, go to "Accounts->Add/Edit", and fill it out like this:

    * Protocol: IRC
    * Screen name: (choose your nickname here)
    * Server: irc.ubuntu.com
    * Password: (Only if you registered your nick; see here for details)

    And that's it. Now to connect to a channel, type:
    Code:
    /join #CHANNEL
    just substitute CHANNEL for the correct name. To find which channels are available, use:
    Code:

    /list
    or go to "Tools->Room List" in the Buddy List window, and press the "Get List" button.

    If you have questions, try #ubuntu:
    Code:

    /join #ubuntu
