According to a source, the company appears to accelerate the development of Vista Service Pack 2. While a first beta version was circulated last month to a group of testers, Release Candidate is scheduled for February, and the final version would be ready in April.

Service Pack 2 is not as much as first expected, but it will be another layer of finalizing a system that has created much controversy. Security updates, fixes various problems and adding certain elements are in the program, including:

  • Windows Search 4.0
  • Improved Bluetooth support, including version 2.1
  • Improved support of a recent 64-bit processors VIA
  • New updates improving the compatibility of applications
  • Support for exFAT, a file system created specifically for Flash memory devices and capable, among other synchronize files taking into account time zones
  • Support native burning Blu-ray
  • Support cards ICCD and CCID
  • Launch faster and effective implementation of the Wi-Fi in the reawakening of the machine

Suddenly, with Release Candidate scheduled for February, it is not clear that there is a public beta as was the case for Service Pack 1. Remember also that SP2 does not include changes SP1. Its size will not be "only" about 200 MB

The final version (RTM) would be available in April. If Microsoft made its usual, it will first be English, German, Japanese, French and Spanish will be distributed, but the issue of RTM in April does not mean that the download will be possible immediately.
