    Uninstalling Windows XP without formatting

    Hello all,
after a crash of my Windows XP partition C: (blue screen during loading windows), I had to reinstall windows on my data partition D:.
Everything works fine now, but I find myself with a Windows XP Install on C: Bugged. I deleted the folder of windows, except for one file that refuses to let it go. But I soon saw that windows is to be a "hidden" non-negligible (the space between my disc and the total file size, I miss 8 Gb!)

Is there a technique for cleaning thoroughly without formatting?

    Thank you in advance

Hello, on the partition C: \ there is the boot files, which is especially not to be removed. In C: \ you can remove windows, program files and documents and every other things.

To avoid having to choose at start-up windows, right click on My Computer and then starting and property recovery, to zero time display (especially after choosing the right windows)

You can always make a install a fresh copy of windows XP on another partition. without formatting your system.
This link will help you http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...multiboot.mspx
    Cheers!

    or

    Try Windows Repair.
    Then when inside...
Try Windows Update to see if there are any hardware updates

The best way would be to copy/backup the data on D: then format it. Otherwise you could run XP from C: and delete every file from D: except the files you want to keep. Make sure to edit the boot.ini file to remove the reference to XP on the D: drive and it should be fine to go.
