Debian or Kubuntu, for a laptop?

Kubuntu is based on Debian packages therefore it is the same.
Kubuntu to a more obvious and intuitive, untilise KDE rather than Gnome in Ubuntu.
For power management is such drivers if they exist will be usable with debian and ubuntu.
