Default mail client is not properly installed

    Hi all
I am facing problem that when I click on an email address in IE, a new message box should pop up from Outlook. Instead, I get this message:

Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Default mail client is not properly installed

This behavior can occur if you use Outlook Express as your default e-mail client and the Mailto link contains more than 456 characters.

    RESOLUTION

    To work around this issue:

    1. In Internet Explorer, click Source on the View menu.

    2. In the Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) source code, locate the list of e-mail recipients. For example:

    <A HREF="mailto:someone@somewhere.net,anyone@anywhere .net">visible
    text</A>

    3. Select the e-mail addresses.

    4. Copy the e-mail addresses to the Clipboard by clicking Copy on the Edit menu.

    5. Quit Notepad.

    6. In Outlook Express, click Compose Message.

    7. Click the To box, and then click Paste on the Edit menu.
