    Moving Primary Partition

    Hi all
I have bought a new SATA hard disk , earlier I was having IDE windows xp installed on that now I've just copied the primary partition from IDE to SATA, and make the partition active on the new SATA drive, however, when windows boots up, it stopped loading right before the logon screen, I can move around the mouse, but there is nothing, just the background.I used acronis disk director to copy the partition. Any suggestions what should I do?

I think you need to clone the entire partition not only copying contents will work. You should see the acronis disk director guide properly.

If possible try to repair your OS I don't think so just copying OS from one partition to another partition will let you boot from it.

Acronis has an option to clone the disk or copy a partition. You want to clone the entire drive to the SATA drive.

There is a clone disk option under "tools" in the main menu.
