I have Windows XP SP3 CD with me and its a XP setup CD. For installing this, I was required to have fresh install. But there must be such a way that only SP3 can be installed without needing a fresh install, but I am not sure.

I think every such updates are available with the Microsoft. If you go to Microsoft's site and search internally for 'Windows XP SP3 update free download', you may get that from Microsoft. If its not free, then you can search in Search Engines with the keyword mentioned above for getting the free download link of SP3 patch.

However getting fresh install of XP SP3 will be better rather than applying patch, as far as I feel.
