Help With NTFS PLEASE

OK so I'm Running a desktop XP SP2

I had a laptop that broke about 1 year ago and it was running XP as well. anyway I took the hard drive out yesterday, put it in a case and am now running it through USB. I can get into the hard drive fine. But my problem is that all my files were under my user account. When I try to open the folders in there I get access is denied, I worked on it for a while but no luck. Is there anything I can do. I have a lot of stuff on that drive I really want to keep.

The folders that are there were created by those users. Some security features must have been implemented on those folder at that time through NTFS security tab.

If any such security was applied at that time, denying access to other users, then these folders will not open in your current system, as the users become different for Windows.

Try overtaking ownership of those folders from NTFS security tab and see if you can grant access to those folders for the users you want. Try doing this particularly from Admin account.
