I am using Office 2003 since years on my Windows XP SP2 system. I recently updated the office as well to SP2 and was working great, no problem. I heard somewhere that service pack 3 for Office is also available and hence thought to upgrade the same as well. So I searched on Microsoft sites and found it at MS public download site. I started the upgrade/download but at a stage it failed with an error ‘missing zf561402.cab’ file. Tried twice but the same problem.

As I remember I was getting the same error while working with SP1 and SP2 as well earlier. Common thing was the same that time also, it’s MS public download site. Hence that time I installed service packs from a CD. The CD I got from my School Agreement . Now the problem is they don’t provide CDs anymore. And from this site am not able to get Office 2003 SP3 for download anywhere else. Can you guys help me getting zf561402.cab file from somewhere ?

You should check your earlier Office CDs again in hidden files. Because I checked my CD and there is a file zf561402.cab in hidden folders. I don’t know what could be the reason it is not in your disk and is in my disk but I guess because mine is Office 2003 volume license cd. As a workaround what you can do is delete your MSOCache folder using Local Installation Source tool. Once done, download the Office 2003 SP3 again from here http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl...ails.aspx?id=8

Well thanks a lot for the help and suggestion RaAbi but that doesn’t seems to be helpful because as you said I searched the entire CD including hidden files as well but there doesn’t seems to be any such cab files. FYI I have many cab files in the range of zd561402.cab to zf612702.cab but there is not the one I need, zf561402.cab.

Also the download link you provided is the same I tried earlier as well I think, I tried downloading the same again but still got the missing cab file error again like before. The only thing now left is deleting the MSO cache using Local Installation Source tool but I have doubt here whether it will work as I don’t have the zf561402.cab on my office CD as I said earlier?

As far as I know I don’t think removing the MSOCache will work unless you have the missing cab file because it creates a cache of the cab files from the CD when you install Office 2003 productivity app. The reason behind this is because it allows you to add or remove features and patch the product w/out having to incur the dreaded prompt for the original installation media.
