Office 2003 Updates fail

One of my desktop in WSUS environment is failing for every update with below error message:

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8007006e: Security Update for Office 2003 (KB929064).

All other desktop are running fine and have installed updates successfully as well. Is there anything i can try to install Office 2003 update on my desktop giving error??

Have you made sure that "Office Source Engine" is running on the machine that is giving your error for installing updates?? If not then type MSCONFIG in run and check it out under services. I have come across some people who were getting same error for all updates but later they found that "Office Source Engine" was not running in their case, after turning it on their system started installing all updates without any further issue. So check it out, i guess you might be having same situation.

strey1, i have checked out for "Office Source Engine" and its already running. I think i am having a different case, should i try out uninstalling and reinstalling Office 2003? will that help?

It should but before reinstalling it i will suggest you to better repair your MS Office and check out if you are getting lucky with that. Just go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > click on "MS Office" > select "Change" and then "Repair". Once repairing process gets completed you can try installing updates, best of luck.

You can try repairing your Microsoft Office programs but if that doesn't make any difference in your case then you can try editing below subkeys:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0
You just have to right click on 11.0 and change it to Old11,Close Registry Editor and try installing update.
