"There is not enough memory or disk space to run Word"

I, like many other users who have posted concern on this site, am getting
this message while trying to open Microsoft Word after installing the beta
2007 version, or the compatibility pack. I have been using the beta version
for over 3 months now and tried getting the compatibility pack. After I
intalled it, I got this message while trying to open word. This is a very
important and urgent problem for me, because I am a student and all of my
notes are on Word. I have 16 gigs of space left.
Can anyone help?
Or does anyone know the number I should call to get help?

I'm not clear on your configuration.

(a) The Compatability pack is for folks who do not have Office 2007 installed on their computer and (b) Office 2007 Beta2 and Office
2007 release (final) version software tends not to match/play-nice-together.

Have you installed or updated other software on your system or used any type of 'cleanup' utility?

Sorry I can't help but I'm having the same problem. HELP Someone!!!

Well that explains why I was having problems, I guess I just thought the
compatability pack was an update for the beta program so I wouldn't have to
"save as" to 97-2003 in word. But...I ran Microsoft Diagnostic last night,
it found 1 error & after I restarted it was fine. BUT...I have a friend who
was having the same problem & hers isn't fine yet. Should I uninstall the
compatability pack? Do you think running the Diagnostic in effect uninstalled
the compatability pack?

I had the same problem and it only affected the Office programs. I hadn't
done anything to my computer except download updates from Windows when this
error suddenly happened. My solution was to restore my computer to a date
when I knew the Office programs were working. This solution worked for me.

I have problem with Officee 2007 I tried to open office 2007 but it won,t open I don't understand it.
Would you help me how to do?

Dude Same Thing With Me! Are you using a stolen version of it? cuz i am and it says the same thing so i think if you went out and purchased it, then it would work.

Well... Rather... Did you copy it from another compter cuz' i bought it originally, but i lost the disk so i copied it on to my SanDisk to put it on my other computer and after i did it said too little memory or Disk space but i have 300MB of RAM left and 250GB left on my Harddrive so im sure its neither.

How do you delete a key? Where do I go?

Solution:

You need to delete the key:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\<SID of the affected user>

I did that and it's all working again.

Go to START >> RUN and type in REGEDIT and click Ok.
Then browse to the registry key I have listed above and simply delete it.
If you need to find out the SID of the affected user, go to this site for instructions and a tool:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb897417.aspx

Since you don't understand how to delete a key, PLEASE BACK UP YOUR REGISTRY
FIRST!!! A misstep in editing the registry can screw your computer up big
time.

I'm running Office 12 Student and Home (Word 2007, etc) in XP. I had the same problem. None of the previous fixes mentioned on this page seemed to work for me. You should go to "Start>Control Panel>User Accounts>Create A New Account". Create a new user and login as that user. I was able to get Office 12 (Word 2007, etc) running again this way. Then go to your old user folder and copy all of your documents, etc into the new user folder. Then delete the old user account.

Solved the whole MS office 2007 problem with this.
