CRYPTOGRAPHIC SERVICE

I have updates set to auto, but recently noticed that everytime I shut down,
the computer was installing the same 8 updates (security updated for Office
2003 products). I keep getting an error message that the updates failed
because it is not running a cryptographic service. Same error message if I
try to upgrade to IE7. I checked out KB822798, but Services shows the crypto
service as "started" and restarting it did not solve the issue.

I am worried that it is a symptom of something more as I was unable to
repair or reinstall from the original disc. It fails each time. Have not to
tried uninstalling for fear that a clean install will fail and I will be left
w/o office all together...

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Re: CRYPTOGRAPHIC SERVICE

There is a Hotfix for this error. It is a Windows issue and MS has a Hotfix. You will need to call Microsoft and get this hotfix. It is free of charge but you will need to mention at time of call that you are asking for a Hotfix concerning the Crypto Service for XP\2003
