Uninstalling the Compatibility Pack after Office 2007 is installed

I was using Office 2003 and i have installed Office 2007 Professional Plus over it. Today while my system was installing updates i got an error saying " Office 2003 Professional Edition is not installed..." and update got terminated. I have checked out regarding this error and have found some mentioning that it occurs because of Compatibility Pack. When i crossed checked it in my case then Compatibility Pack for Office 2007 appeared installed in my system. Now when i am trying to uninstall it then i am getting same error message " Office 2003 Professional Edition is not installed...". i want to know if there is some other way of removing it??

You should have uninstalled Office 2003 Professional Edition before installing Office 2007 Professional Plus. Its recommended to do that, anyways just go through below article and try out the solution that has been mentioned there for removing Office 2003 completely.

Since you have mentioned that the issue in your case is because of Windows 2007 Compatibility Pack, i will suggest you to use Windows Installer Cleanup Tool for removing Compatibility Pack only rather than uninstalling Office 2003. If same issue persist after uninstalling 2007 Compatibility Pack then you can proceed uninstalling Office 2003 further.

I think a better idea will be uninstalling both Office 2003 Professional Edition and Office 2007 Professional Plus and than making a clean installation of 2007 Professional Plus only. You can refer to below knowledge based articles for removing them.
