Office 2003 still on Add/Remove list after upgrade to Office 2007

I was using Office 2003 Pro on my Windows XP SP2 running laptop earlier. 2 Weeks ago I upgraded my Office 2007. Note, I upgraded and not did fresh install. My system is working properly and the office too, no problem at all. But the only thing I found surprising is that when I went to Add and Remove programs today I saw both office 2003 and office 2007 listed over there. How is that possible? Furthermore what surprises more me is my system still is retrieving updates for Office 2003 when it is already upgraded to office 2007. I also saw folders related to older office in my program files but there are no files showing up. I guess only the registries keys are left.

Now what I want to ask here is it safe if I remove office 2003 by clicking “Remove” button in the Add and Remove program ?

Me too facing exactly the same problem. I can see both offices listed in Add and Remove Control panel but you were lucky as your windows and office running without any problems. Mine crashes many times. So, someone please let me know if it is ok to uninstall office 2003 from Add an remove programs? Remember I too upgraded and don’t have the CD.

I have been through a similar situation but in my case it wasn’t listed under Add and Remove program. Without thinking about any harm cause I removed earlier office each and every file from my system because I dint found anything related to this on any of the Microsoft pages. So I’ll suggest you guys to simply go ahead and remove the files you see from office 2003. Also download some registry cleaners and clean out the registry. Don’t forget to backup the registry before doing the same.
