Office 2007 fails. Says it's missing Office64WW.msi file

I bought a Genuine Office Professional 2007 CD with Product key from Amazon, got it yesterday itself. When trying to install it on my Windows XP desktop the progress bar reaches halfway and gives me some error saying “missing ProPlusr.WW\Office64WW.msi”.

I tried to find out help on Microsoft sites but dint got anything related to this. Do any one of you have any idea regarding ProPlusr.WW\Office64WW.msi files ?

There are various reasons when you get such Missing Files errors during office installations. Two major causes of them are (1) when your CD or CD drive is faulty and setup is unable to read the disk and (2) when there is some problem in the system memory.

Hence in the first case, you should remove your CD, clean it with cotton or some soft cloth, re-insert and start the installation. It should work. And in second case you will need to open the system cover, remove the RAM, clean it and reinsert it. You can also try changing the slots. This helps in many cases.

I have very good experience of “Missing files” errors as I wasted one week fixing this on my laptop. Finally I was able to fix it by a solution given by a guy. I told me to create a new folder on desktop of D drive (doesn’t matters), copy Entire CD content to that folder. Now remove the disk and open the new folder. Double click setup.exe from the root of this folder to run installation. In my case, the installation smoothly without a single error.

Thanks for sharing this friend but that trick don’t work every time. I am too facing this problem and followed as you said but nothing happened. Yet getting the same problem.

    Any other solution?
