| Office 2007 Enterprise Install
I am running Vista Home Premium, attempting to install Office 2007 Enterprise (Office Professional Edition 2003 is already installed, so I'm performing an upgrade). After loading the DVD, keying the license key (accepted), and waiting for 15 minutes or so, the install is rolled back with an "Error 1712.One or more of the files required to restore your computer to its previous state could not be found. Restoration will not be possible." I've tried rebooting several times, perfomed a CheckDisk... nothing seems to work. Does anybody have a clue for me? Thanks! |

Lately it seems like everyone and their brother and cousins have it. I'm the suspicious sort and have my doubts about the legality of a lot of these installations. |

Me too. That is why I asked the OP as to where he did get it. Besides I think Office Enterprise comes with only as a Volume License and I do not think it is capable of Upgrade as the OP is saying in his post. It is a full install. I am taking this above from my Office 2003 Enterprise Edition It was purchased from MS through my employer. |

| Re: Office 2007 Enterprise Install
According to http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/pr...754511033.aspx , Office 2007 Enterprise is only available to volume-license customers, and not as an upgrade. But according to Bob Buckland in http://groups.google.com/group/micro...556b08dbae64ac , Office 2007 Enterprise is available in volume license and retail versions. So I don't know who is right, but I don't recall Bob ever posting an incorrect statement in the past. |

I think Bob is wrong on this one. It is not available in a Retail version. If it is then it will be cost restrictive to the ordinary person because Enterprise is named as such for the Volume License that it carries with it.. It can be purchased from an employer who has bought one and sells 1 license to one of his employees. He recoups some of the cost that he put out for the purchase. My 0ffice 2003 Enterprise with 25 CALS cost me $3900 at the time of my purchase a few years ago. I believe that the Enterprise version but do not hold me to it comes in 10,25 and an unlimited license versions and the price reflects the amount of CALS.. |

| Re: Office 2007 Enterprise Install
The 'retail', or probably more accurately the 'non volume license' package of MS Office 2007 Enterprise edition does exist :) There's a 60 day trial of it available for download http://microsoft.com/products/info/p...748d5&type=ovr or through http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/eva.../bb188203.aspx and it's the 'retail' version that was originally included as 'Enterprise edition' for the MS Partners Action Pack (10 installs) and certain MSDN subscription types. It's the same product as the Volume license one except that the files needed to use the Office 2007 Customization Tools (OCT) [ http://microsoft.com/office/ork ] for deployment have not been included and unless they've updated the download pages recently it doesn't mention that the download to try out for Admins doesn't have the Admin tools. For companies who have volume license programs and if I recall, school licenses, those license holders can also make the Enterprise edition under the Home Use/Education programs. |

| Re: Office 2007 Enterprise Install
I am aware of MSDN since I own a Universal Subscription. As far as the Retail version of Enterprise 2007 I think it is only available with a minimum of 5 Cals. I just checked my online supplier and it is available for order for $2320 with the 5 Cals. They do not list one with a single license . Before I continue and you might be right which I think is not the case here but let me check tomorrow with a large Retail supplier if a single version with 1 license is available for order or purchase on the Retail level. I will post back here tomorrow at one point with what I am able to learn on the above. |

While I can appreciate the debate over the legitimitacy of the software, I can assure all of you that it is a fully legal copy, labeled "Home Use Program" w/an orange label printed w/product key on the backside of the case. Can anyone help me w/this issue at hand? I sincerely appreciate any help that anyone can provide. |

| Re: Office 2007 Enterprise Install
I have MAPS but that includes Office 2007 Business edition, not Enterprise. I got my Enterprise through Technet Plus, which is not licensed for production use. I can, however, use it in a test environment and use it to deploy Office to 1000 clients, as long as someone signs and pays for the Volume Licensing contract upon deployment. Having said that, there also exists a version of Enterprise for home use, which is the version that pops up here now and then. It's not available through retail channels, but customers with a volume licensing contract can give it to their employees for home use. <rant> Though I understand that nobody here wants to help people with pirated copies of any piece of software, it's getting annoying that the first response to a question regarding Enterprise here is another question, "do you have a legit copy?". That's irrelevant, you can't tell. My copy of Enterprise is legit as long as I don't use it to write letters or read my e-mail. And having a legit source (Microsoft) does not guarantee the install media is error-free. The install problems I have had with Enterprise turn out to be the result of corruption in one of the mirrors of the Technet/MSDN download site. And, this NG is called microsoft.public.office.setup, not ms.p.office.licensing or ms.p.office.piracy. </rant> |

| Re: Office 2007 Enterprise Install
Not a question of legitimacy but a question as how to answer properly. It all depends where you got the Enterprise edition from. To answer on the Enterprise edition is not the same as it would be on Off Pro,STE etc. So where did you get the Enterprise Edition of Office from??? |

| Re: Office 2007 Enterprise Install
I just finished checking with 2 Retail outlets 1 in Florida and one in NY. They both claim the same. Yes they can order it but it comes with 5 Cals and the price in Miami is $2595 and in NY $2365. It is something that they do not carry and they have to order and will tale up to 4-6 weeks before they receive it. I do not think that an ordinary person that uses the computer a few times a week will buy something at that price. It is very cost restrictive to most. Maybe this is different in some other States but this is what I got until now. |

I ordered and obtained the software (both Office Pro 2003 and Office Enterprise 2007) directly from Microsoft. My employer offers the software to its employees through an agreement w/MS. Is this what you get exactly when it rolls back with the Error 1712 on Enterprise http://img156.imageshack.us/my.php?i...ntitled7te.png |

| Re: Office 2007 Enterprise Install
The Enterprise 'Retail' edition (which is one commonly used with the Home Use License program) has an EnterpriseR.ww folder the 'regular' Enterprise would be Enterprise.ww and would also include the \Admin folder. The Home Use License can be as little as $25 through a qualifying employer. |
