How to revert back to 2003 after uninstalling 2007

Sponsored Links
As of now am using Office 2003 on my Old desktop computer. Have order a new MSi laptop that will come in about next 7 days. Today I also bought a Office Standard 2007 upgrade version. Now what I am thinking is to install this purchased Office 2007 on my existing old desktop just to test how it works because I haven’t used it before. I will actually upgrade my existing office 2003 to 2007.

And later when my laptop arrives I will remove Office 2007 from my desktop and install it on my Laptop. Will it work ? Also I would like to know whether removing office 2007 from old desktop will revert back automatically to Office 2003 or will I need to install it again from start ? hope you understood what I meant to say.

Re: How to revert back to 2003 after uninstalling 2007

It is nearly impossible but you can do it ONLY if you will install Office 2007 in a separate folder than Office 2003, usually there use to be only one folder for Microsoft Office under C:\Program Files. Another condition is that Office 2007 should be fresh install like your 2003 and not the Upgraded version.

But as you said you bought a upgrade version, I don’t think you can downgrade to Office 2003 once installed 2007 and removing it later. You will need to re-install Office 2003 from a CD again..

Re: How to revert back to 2003 after uninstalling 2007

Thanks for the suggestion NavinS. What I did now is installed Office 2007 on my Old desktop with an option to leave all earlier office apps except Outlook. I guess doing this when I’ll remove it later it will leave everything (Excel, Word, PPT, etc) and I’ll need to install only Outlook again.

Now I wanted to know when I’ll remove Office 2007 later from this pc will there be any problem with Activation process on the new laptop ?

Yeah, you will only need to outlook later after removing office 2007. And I don’t think there should be any problem with the activation because you will remove it first from the desktop, right ? Also if anything goes wrong, in the worst scenario, you will only need to activate it via phone activation.
