| Unable to open Office 2007 under Vista Ultimate 32bit
System Information: Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit (Retail Version) - clearly installed without entering the SN and not activated yet Office 2007 Enterprise (RTM) - fully and successfully installed (as the setup program showed) and restarted Symptoms: 1. Every time when I open Excel, Word, Powerpoint or whatever components under Office 2007, the office installer runs: windows is now configuring Office 2007...... 2. After half a minute, for example, Excel is opened with a warning window: stdole32.tlb (is missing or damaged), but in fact this file is very well lying at c:/windows/system32 3. After a click on Yes, the office installer starts again and repeats an office installation process which lasts about 5 minutes. 4. Excel is successfully opened and runs OK. 5. But after closing Excel, when I try to open it again, the same nightmare re-occurred. Other information: 1. After many times of uninstallation, restart, and re-installation of Office, nothing has changed and the same problem is still there. 2. I've once installed Office 2007 (within the same setup CD) in Windows Vista 32bit Beta1, Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista Enterprise 64bit, and Windows 2003. They all ran smoothly without such problems. Anyone here could help solve this probelm? Thank you very very much~~~~~ |

Create new registary key named NoRereg (see details below) and reboot. Worked for me. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Options After you create the NoRereg value, set it equal to 1 |

Try this link http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/arc...04/739820.aspx . I had the same problems with office 2007 and 2010 on my 32 bit vista installation (HP G7000 laptop with intel Core 2 Duo inside) where I got the stdole32 nonsense in excell and the never ending "please wait while windows configures ... etc." when opening the other applications in the office suite. It is a very easy method to follow and it worked perfectly for me. I have both office 2007 Home office and Student and Office 2010 Proffesional installed side by side and they both run perfectly now. It was down to the registry not allowing permissions to be set but this proceedure fixed it straight away. I can't recommend it enough. Here is the link again. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/arc...04/739820.aspx I hope you have the same success it gave to me. Regards Oldscroat |
