Office 2007 crashes on startup.

Earlier I was Office 2003, upgraded it to 2007 about two weeks ago. Before installing this I removed 2003, rebooted and installed Office 2007 from scratch making no mistake. My office is still working fine but from couple of days my Outlook started crashing. Whenever I launch the app it freezes and after few seconds gives me a pop up saying “Outlook has stopped working”. I tried to run it in Safe mod but yet the same problem.

Furthermore, as a suggestion by one person, I created a new PST but as soon as I ran scanpst and started importing my backup and emails, again it started crashing. I even don’t have any 3rd party tool installed for office, neither any plugins. Can anyone help me out of this please ?

As far as my experience says you should always click on File > Open > Outlook DAta File instead of importing a pst file. This will never create any problem. Alternatively you can make a new mail profile to get rid of such problems. You can do this by going to Control Panel click Mail Icon click Profiles and Add. Here configure the new one to use your current .pst file.

Thanks for your help dude but Outlook Data file also dint worked for me. Still my outlook crashes. I had used Outlook 2003 for years and never had any problems, hence thing to go back to the same. But the only thing concerned is whether 2007 scanpst.exe will be compatible with 2003.

Ive Found a cure for this problem!!

I found that by following a COMBINATION of :

1. removing the outcmd.dat as explained in this thread.
2. removing my kaspersky spam checking add-ons from outlook options
3. removing xobni software from outlook and my pc.

By doing this, i found that the problem id had with outlook 2007 crashing upon startup has been resolved.
