Office 2003 Pro: Install Error - 1904: Cannot Register MSRCLR40.dl

It is my Windows XP system where am trying to install Office 2003 Professional. When I started installation for the first time it gave me some error with Ignore button. So I simply ignored the errors whenever they appeared. However the installation gets completed, whenever I open Outlook, it just crashes. All other applications like Word and Excel are working fine but only the problem is with Outlook.

The error was as follows:
Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 -- Error 1904. Setup cannot register module C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\1033\MSRCLR40.DLL. If you click 'Cancel' or 'Ignore', run Setup again and reinstall or repair your Office installation. If problem persists, contact your Information Technology department for assistance.

I tried to fix it by manually registering the component using regsvr32 but it says that the specified module does not exist. Well when I checked, the file is right there specified location.

Please help me .

I tried to findout some details regarding the error and problem mentioned above and i got that it is most probably related to MDAC.

You just need to try MDAC and the problem should be solved. For more info about the same, check this http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...dataaccess.asp

Thanks for the info buddy, but it doesn’t seems to be working. As you said I tried reinstalling MDAC 2.8 but seems like it is not compatible with Windows XP POS (My Xp is embedded with POS). Furthermore I tried to re-install my Office 2003 but yet the same problem/error.

I found a solution for this. If you have any other PC running with XP or atleast windows 2000 then just copy MSREPL40.DLL from those PC and paste it into “C:\Windows\System32 directory “ on your Windows XP Embedded system. Now try reinstalling Office 2003. It will work properly.
