| SKU112.CAB
I just bought an HP Pavilion a1560n. I didn't get any CD's with it. It had Microsoft Office 2003 pre-installed on it. I purchased a product key and when I enter it, I get an error message that it can't find SKU112.CAB. How do I fix this? |

Who did you pay for Office? You should have the Office CD - that's where that file is located. It may also be on your your hard drive's Local Install Source. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/830168/ for more info on that. This particular question has been asked MANY times. You should also read: How to convert an Office 2003 Trial edition to a full retail edition http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=831023 The following has also been suggested in past threads. If you do not have the installation cd and want to solve this issue, follow these steps: (works most of the time with all sku.cab files) 1. Click on start==>run==>type "excel /s" without quotations and click ok. 2. Once Excel is up in safe mode with the error message in front, hold down ctrl+Alt+Delete keys on your keyboard to bring the task manager up. 3. Click on the processes tab==>look for msiexec.exe (only the one next to your user name), click on it and end the process. 4. Excel should be running without an error message now==>close Excel in safe mode==>reopen it one more time in safe mode to check if it is opening with no error message. 5. Close Excel /s and open Excel normally, it should work fine. |

I purchased the product key online. As I stated previously I do not have a CD. This was pre-loaded on the PC. I 'KNOW' it was asked MANY times previously but none of the fixes worked hence asking again. Guess no one knows how to fix the problem. Thanks for trying |

I know you bought it "online" but from whom? I gave you several suggestions below the part about it being on the disk. Did you try any of those? |

By golly, JoAnn's a pretty smart gal. Your "excel /s" advice worked and ms office is now working fine. Thanks. |

OK folks, big dummy here. Its late, I'm tired. Brain is numb. 46 year old man going back to school. In anatomy&physiology. Lab report ok? Want to try scanning some documents for the first time in this computers history(hp pavillion 5-7 years old.Survived 4 moves) I keep getting the same thing. Ms office standard edition 2003 keeps trying to reinstall itself and sku112.cab not found. Do I need to buy a new edition of office now or is there a way to keep this one? And why does it do that anyhow, is there a time limit on these sort of things? Thanks for any help, ramblin don |
