Cannot Install Office 2007 beta 2

I have tried several times to install the beta, but each time the installer
fails, producing the following error...

"Error 1402.Setup cannot open the registry key
UNKNOWN\.tiff\MSPaper.Document\ShellNew"

How to I fix this issue? I had to pay $1.50 to download this beta...so I'd
hate for this to have been a waste of time and money.

I also have made several attempts to uninstall Office 2007 beta 2 (I don't
like it).
I get this message .....
"Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 (Beta) uninstall did not complete
successfully.
Error 1402. Setup cannot open the registry key
UNKNOWN\.mdb\PersistentHandler. Verify that you have sufficient permissions
to access the registry or contact Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS)

........ (by the way the file C:\DOCUME~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\PSS10R.CHM does not
exist)
Can anyone help, I am desperate to go back to Office 2003.

Since you installed Office 2007 on a non-critical machine with no essential data that cannot be lost, simply roll back to a restore point or restore your backup image.

Get the Windows Install Cleanup utility from MS and that will take care of
the problem for you.

There was a warning before you downloaded the beta about running it on a
non-production system and many of us have repeated that warning in this
newsgroup.

Oh hohohoho! If you think that will work with Beta2TR, you have a really rude awakening waiting for you. There is a specific warning that it will NOT work with B2TR.

And as for the OP, learn to read and understand the warnings before you try beta software.

That utility took care of stuff for me; after I had uninstalled BT2R
first.

Thanks Kelly, the Windows Install Cleanup utility sorted it - I had to clean
up the registry afterwards but that's OK.
