| Re: Office 2007 Beta Fails Install
Hi Brian, A couple of steps to try (assuming Win XP) 1. Start=>Programs=>Accessories=>Disk Cleanup 2. Internet Explorer=>Tools=>Internet Options=> General=>Delete Files 3. Locate your 2007 Office Professional Beta 2 download file and note this folder/path. 4. Create a new folder on your PC and note the folder/path location. 5. From Start=>Run use, on a single line: [drive:\PathOfDownload]<downloadfilename>.exe /extract:"<path>" where the "<path>" is the drive:\path\foldername that you crated in Step #4. If this doesn't succeed then the download may be damaged/corrupted. If it does succeed try running the setup from your new folder and see if you get different results. (Be sure to backup your files and shutdown all other running apps including antivirus software before starting 2007 Office setup) Post back with the results please. ======= <<"brian.keefe" <briankeefe@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:6375FD04-069D-4F7E-8BC8-2E87065AB74B@microsoft.com... Getting the same thing here, but with a twist ( i wonder if it's the same for you guys). when the installer tries and fails, this only seems to be when launching from the HDD. When we burn the file to CD, and run the setup from there we're having no such problems. I believe it may be SATA driver related....still trying to figure it out myself though. Hi I.D., Is the Symantec package turned off when installing? Have you checked the Setup.exe(nnnnn).log file from Start=>Run and typing %temp% {enter key} for any additional details? Are you installing as an upgrade to a prior Office product version, or ?? ======= <<"ID" <ID@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:30B5B561-E19D-4000-BB14-DAA5D8A43425@microsoft.com... I think I solved this problem. 1. Ran Disk Cleanup 2. Deleted Office keys in HKLM 3. Ran Setup from CD Smooth sailing.... Hope this helps. You deleted the Office 2007 keys in HKLM...or a previous office? I did not realize your log showed you having a failed install...what error did you get?
