Unable to install office - Error 25004

Too frustrated with this now. Trying to install Office Ultimate 2007 Home and Student since last three days but yet unsuccessful. Am trying to install this on Windows 7 based laptop, when I run the setup it goes upto 40% and than rolls back again with an error message stating

“Error 25004 - Config.xml not specified. Valid config.xml file must be authored when deploying '(null)'”

I tried to get some help from various discussion on other communities, dint found any working. Can anyone here suggest a fix for Error 25004 ?

The error 25004 most probably occurs when you have any earlier office version installed on your pc or If you have though uninstalled the same, some of its files might be hiding on your system that is conflicting with the new installation. Hence you should first check if this is not in your case. For workaround you can run the disk cleanup utility and delete all files or folders left from the earlier version.

Once its deleted, reboot your system and try installing Office Ultimate 2007 now. For more help on the error code, you can check the KB Article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2559816

Usually and leftovers files from trial office version create problems with the new installation and result in Error code 25004. You should refer the following links for more help on this:
