Error: MS Office Professional Plus 2007 Setup has stopped working

New Vista computer that I loaded MS Office 2003 on last month. Have since
purchased MS Office Professional Plus 2007 and each time I attempt to
install, it aborts. I get the initial install screen, the prompt for the
product key (which I enter), I accept the ULA, and the install screen with
toggle bat. Then, without warning, each incidence result in a Windows notice
stating "MS Office Professional Plus 2007 Setup has stopped working"........a
problem caused the problem to stop working correctly. Windows will clsoe and
notify you if a solution is available."

I've attempted 3 times to load by CD and then copied the install CD to my HD
and tried to install from the C Drive. Same error occurs each time.

RE: Error: MS Office Professional Plus 2007 Setup has stopped working

I uninstalled my 2003 MS Office XP Pro and then attempted to install the new
MS Office 2007--same results, with the same error. I tehn tried to install my
daughter's Home and Student 2007 version and the program would not open. I
selected the setup.exe file through "run" and again through Windows Explorer
"run as administrator" and in both cases, nothing happened.

Robert

Uninstall all references to Office from the Add\Remove along with the Activation
Assistant and then try the install again.

If you cannot remove the references for Office from Add \Remove then see the
following

Re: Error: MS Office Professional Plus 2007 Setup has stopped work

Peter,

I really appreciate you taking the time to respond, as I've been wrestling
with this for almost 2 weeks. If I may, I'd like to infringe on your
expertise and check to see if I'm on the right track. First, I tried to
install MS Office 2007 Professional; but during the install, would receive an
error that it stopped working. Thinking perhaps that the MS Office XP 2003
Pro version was the culprit, I removed it and tried again--unfortunately same
results. I then tried Home and Student 2007 to see if it would install and
the Setup.exe installer wouldn't even initialize, regardless to method I
chose to run it. I downloaded the trial version of MS Office 2007
Professional from Microsoft and everything is perfect. So, why am I unable
to install mine from the CD? Are you saying I need to remove the Activation
Assistance in order to make all this work? Will I have to uninstall the
trial version first before attempting to install my own MS Office 2007 Pro?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Uninstall the Activation Assistant and any and ALL references to any Office install
including the Trial and Office 2003 and any other versions from your system. Of
course if you have Data that you need to save then save them first

If you cannot remove them from Add\Remove then see the following

Re: Error: MS Office Professional Plus 2007 Setup has stopped work

Peter,

Couldn't find the Activation Assistant, either through control panel or Revo
Uninstaller; so I proceeded by simply uninstalling Office Pro 2007 Trial and
then my XP Pro 2003. When attempting to install my Office Pro 2007, I
couldn't get the run.exe installer to run. So, I restored my system back
with all the Office programs and then tried installing my Office Pro 2007 by
removing prior versions. Kept getting an error messgae that it couldn't find
the ProPlus.WW/ose.exe file; yet I could see it on the CD. Decided to change
strategy and installed Office Pro 2007 without removing prior versions and it
took. I then went into control panel and uninstalled the trial version and
my older XP Pro 2003. I ran the MS Office diagnostics tool to let it fix the
errors and at this writing, everything is working fine. Thank you so much
for your responses and assistance.
