| Adding Service Pack (2) to Enterprise Install
Is there a way to add Office 2007 SP2 files to an existing Enterprise install structure? So when new users get, they already have SP2 installed. Thanks |

YES. In office 2007, to slipstream (this is the official term for such things) process has been made easier. This is done by first downloading the full version of Office 2007 SP2 and extracting it to the folder: D:\Enterprise\Updates Note: D:= Drive letter of the installation files The easiest way is to copy the entire contents of the Enterprise CD on to your C drive and then extracting the SP2 to: C:\Enterprise\Updates You must have noticed that Enterprise already includes the folder Updates and there is also a "ReadMe.txt" file in it about all updates. Once you have done the extraction, you could copy the entire C:\Enterprise folder on to a CD and keep it as a back up or for installation purposes. You could also enter the serial number in this file before copying them on to a CD: C:\Enterprise\Enterpriser.WW\Config.xml by changing:: <!-- <PIDKEY Value="BCDFGHJKMPQRTVWXY2346789B" /> --> to: <PIDKEY Value="BCDFGHJKMPQRTVWXY2346789B" /> Just enter the correct serial number in place of "BCDFGHJKMPQRTVWXY2346789B" Hope this helps. works like a champ. thanks very much. I have about 50 PCs with previous (non-SP2) already installed. Other than running the actual SP itself, is there a way those users can run setup.exe again and just get the updates? "Expert" wrote: > YES. Unfortunately, no. For the existing non-SP2 installations, you will need to deploy SP2 separately, preferably via startup script. SP2 was not cached with the original installation so Maintenance Mode will not include it. -- TXGuy [MSFT] "JeffB" wrote: > works like a champ. thanks very much. > > I have about 50 PCs with previous (non-SP2) already installed. TXGuy, While this methodology certainly works, it certainly is not a slipstream. Traditionally a slipstream approach overwrites the old file/data with the up-to-date ones along with any new bits. The benefit of a slipstream is that you end up with a minimal set of bytes to deploy. Using this new method, my source files increase from the base CD of about 560 MB (Office Enterprise 2007 - DVD (English)) to a whopping 898 MB when including SP2. Is there no "fully integrate" Office version with SP2? "TXGuy" wrote: > Unfortunately, no.
