Office 2007 won't open docx files but will open doc files

My new upgrade installation of 2007 Office Professional on Vista will not
open existing .docx files.

However it will open .doc files and will also create and open new .docx
files that it generates.

My old computer with Office 2003 and XP will open the same .docx files.

Suggestions/help??

Thanks,

Ron

The file does not open. Instead I get an advisory that says "Word
experienced and error trying to open the file"

Are these docx files located on your Hard Drive or are you trying to open them from
a CD\DVD

They are on my hard drive. I also tried them from a jump drive. None would
open.

Try associating the .docx files with Word.
