| Windows installer keeps starting up
I recently installed Office Enterprise 2007. Everytime I open an office document the installer starts up. What do I do to prevent this. Already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the product. I saw another posting that said reinstall Vista but this seems a little drastic... |

If you have Windows Vista, then right-click on an Office program shortcut, choose to run the Office program as Administrator, accept the EULA, close the Office program, and then start the Office program normally. If the previous suggestion doesn't help, then see http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=884202 "You must accept the Office End User License Agreement every time that you start an Office program". |

Hi, I have Windows Vista. I tried your suggestions but I am not asked to accept the Office EULA. My problem does not appear to be licensing oriented. What happens when I click on a word document is the windows installer window pops up for a split second, then I get another window for about 6 or 7 seconds that says 'Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007', and then Word opens. See the following http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 |

I have Office Enterprise 2007, and this posting says its not recommended for 2007 Office system products. It refers to 928218 to uninstall a 2007 Office system. However, I have no problem uninstalling Office using the Programs and Features in Windows Vista. It uninstalls successfully. However, when I reinstall the problem remains. What do I try next? I have the same problem with Small Business 2007, which was preloaded by Dell. Did you find a solution for this? I have the same issue with Office Basic pre-installed by Dell. It is still functional, just really annoying. I have the same problem with Office 2007 Home and student. I loaded it on a new Dell using a disk. |

Change the shortcuts. The ones the installer puts into Start| Programs are all bad and can't be manipulated. Create your own shortcuts to replace them (drag and drop from the icons for the actual files). This solved the problem for me, except that I can't open a document without first opening the program; if I try to open the document, the configuration starts. Driving me nuts... |

| RE: Windows installer keeps starting up
Here is what to do to fix it: 1). Go to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\microsoft shared\OFFICE12\Office Setup Controller Rename SETUP.EXE to something else (I just made mine SETUP.EXE.OLD). 2). GO TO C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12 and create new shortcuts for your office programs. Do not use any of the existing shortcuts in the start menu. Everytime you do, you will have to go back to step 1 to rename (or delete) the newly created "Setup.exe". |
