What if I can't find Proplus.www\proplswww.cab?

One of my friends is having Compaq laptop running with Windows Vista Ultimate. We are trying to install Office 2007 Professional on the same with a CD but every time the installation progress bar reaches about 50%, it stucks with an error message saying

“Setup cannot find ProPlus.WW\ProPlsWW.cab Browse to a valid installation source and click OK.”

Well, am not a pro in computers hence I don’t know where to browse and where is this file located. Need an urgent help from you all regarding the same. Thank you.

Hello gUILl, Is this a new laptop? If yes, I guess it might have came with pre-installed Office Trail suite. Did you remove it before installing the purchased Office Professional? If not, that is the cause of these errors. You must always remove all Trail office from the system completely before installing the new one.

Go to Add and Remove Programs, remove the Trail Office. Now go to Start > All Programs > Disk Cleanup and delete if you see any Office related program over there. Now restart the laptop and try to install Office from the CD you got. This should work.

FYI, the files missing while installation use to be right in the installation Disk but due to conflict with earlier installed office suits, you get such errors.

I had this problem couple of weeks ago and somehow I managed to fix it with the following steps:

• First of all I created a new folder named Office 2007 (or any name will do) on desktop.
• Copied entire CD content to that folder.
• Searched web and downloaded the missing file.
• Unzipped the same to the folder I created on my desktop.
• Now run the setup again from the root of the folder and not from the CD.

It works.
