Dialogue Box Message 'cannot find office.en-us\officeLR.cab

We have Windows XP and MS Office 2000. My wife purchased a volume edition
Office 2007 Pro Plus from work. The installation stalls at the installation
progress screen then a dialogue opens with the message:
'Setup cannot find cannot find office.en-us\officeLR.cab. Browse to a valid
installation source then click OK'

This is the same message I'm getting, only it's trying to install Excel and cannot find the ExcelLR cab file.

You don't seem to have gotten any responses to your question here. What did you finally do?

I use Vista 32 bit Ultimate edition.

I was installing Office Professional Plus 2007 from new original disks onto a new clean install of Vista Ultimate 32 bit edition.

Note that I purchased the full version of office *not an upgrade version*.

However, I kept receiving the error you've described.

I fixed the problem by installing Offce XP onto my system (from an original CD) and then afterwards installed Office 2007 onto the system as an upgrade and it worked fine.

Frustrating but fixable if you own a previous version of office

Just Rename the Hidden Folder "MSOCache" (C:\MSOCache) as MSOCache1 and try
to install Office2007.

I have tried renaming this folder but it makes no difference. I am reluctant
to try the uninstall / install route I've seen suggested elsewhere in case
the same problem occurs when I try the install and I'm then left with nothing
installed at all.

Re-installing my old version (MS Ofc Home & Student 2007) then installing my new version (MS Ofc Home & Student 2010) worked - thanks :)
