| Problem installing Office 2007 Standard upgrade
Problem installing Office 2007 Standard Upgrade I'm trying to install Office 2007 Standard Upgrade on a computer with Windows XP. The install goes about halfway and then I get a pop-up box "SETUP cannot find Installation source for Standardr.WW\StdrWW.cab" with a browse box. When I browse to the CD, and go that folder,I get another popup box with "Invalid location". what's going on? |

Have you tried copying the CD to your hard drive and installing from there? |

I too am having trouble installing Office 2007. I have the Professional version, and I have tried copying the CD to my hard drive, but get the same message. A dialog box says "SETUP cannot find ... and then it lists various folders which ARE on the CD. When I browse to the CD, and go that folder, it takes a minute or so, but then comes up with ANOTHER missing folder. I have seen this problem described online a lot, but have yet to find an answer. I'd like to be able to install and use the software I purchased. |

Did anyone get an answer to this - I am getting the same message and can't seem to get through it. What are you using as the qualifying producer? |

Has anyone solved this problem. I got it trying to install Office 2007 Standard, not an upgrade. I have a brand new HP machine with 64 bit Windows Vista. It came with Microsoft Works and a 60 day trial for Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student. I tried using my key with the trial but it rejected it. Last edited by lerkelens : 16-07-2009 at 03:21 PM. Where did you get the key from. The key you find on the case of the computer is for the Operating System and not for Office. |

Of course your key is not going to work with the trial Uninstall all Office versions shown in add/remove dialogue, including any Activation Assistant, reboot the PC. Then, and only if Office has completely been removed, install your version from cd/dvd You have to uninstall the trial version and the activation utility, then install your package. |

The key came from the jewel case that Office 2007 came in. I bought Office 2007 separately from my computer. I first tried installing from my Office 2007 CD. When that did not work I tried putting my key in on the Trial and that "of course" was wrong. I successfully installed Home and Office 2007. I uninstalled the Activation Assistant and all Microsoft programs except Home and Office and rebooted. I tried again. no go. I tried just installing Outllok since I think that is all I am missing. no go. Will now uninstall Home and Office, rebootk and try again. I also wonder if this is a 64 bit issue. Tried that but see all my other notes to other post to DL. Would love to solve this and move on. Thanks |

You have to uninstall *all* versions of Office shown in add/remove, including any Activation Assistant and BCM (MS Business Contact Manager) then clear temp files & reboot. Then check add/remove again and Program files to ensure MS Office has gone, only then install your paid for version If after uninstalling, any part of Office remains, there is a kb article for manual removal, which must be done before installing any paid for version |

| Re: Problem installing Office 2007 Standard upgrade
I still can not install Office 2007 Standard. I have done everything suggested. I even did a 4 page procedure that walked me through every place I might have Office stuff to remove including modifying the registry. I did that very carefully and can still not install. I just tried copying the whole install file to my hard drive and I get "Can not read from source file or disk Stdrww type: cabinet file Size 141MB Date Modified: 10/27/2006" Does anyone think I could have a bad install disk? I can install Student and Home 2007 for now but I really need Outlook. I know my first post said I was trying to install an upgrade but that was an error. I bought Office Standard 2007. I have spent 3 days on this and I can't afford any more time. Thanks for any help. |

You can try two steps to resovle the issue: 1> To install an upgrade version of office, you need to have any one of the older version of office installed in the comptuer. Install Office 2002 or 2003 first and then install the office standard upgrade if you've an older version of office 2> if you don't have an older version of office, download and install the Office Standard 2007 Trial version from the link below and use the product key that you've purchased to install the upgrade version of office standard 2007 http://us20.trymicrosoftoffice.com/p...&culture=en-US |

| Re: Problem installing Office 2007 Standard upgrade
I GOT IT TO WORK. Here's what I did after wanting to shoot myself in the face because of a couple of install issues, most notably the missing standardr.ww cab file that no one is actually missing. I have a new install of Win 7 on a new drive. I was installing the full version of Office Standard 2007. 1. I uninstalled Microsoft Office Web something or other from the programs list. 2. I disabled Microsoft Security Essentials from it's real-time monitoring. 3. I began copying the files from the disk to a folder on my desktop with the intention of trying the install from there...while it was trying to install from the disk. Previously if I didn't get the .cab error the install would go further, I'd get my hopes up only to have the dvd drive go quiet and then be told there was an error and I could go F myself. I was expecting that again, and decided to go ahead and copy the files from the cd to the desktop folder while it was installing, cause I didn't feel like I could hurt it anyway at this point. The SURPRISE and awesomeness was that with the copying happening, the drive never got quiet, and next thing I know a "Successful Install" window popped up. Hope my experience tonight helps someone. Good luck. Last edited by child9 : 20-12-2011 at 12:48 PM. |
