Event ID 5000 when installing office 2007 on TSE

I am trying to install office 2007 Professional (Open License) on my Windows server 2003 terminal but it fails every time with “Event ID 5000”. The complete error message is as follow:

The description for Event ID ( 5000 ) in Source ( Microsoft Office 12 ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: office12setup; {10120000-0f00-0000-0000--0000000ff1ce}; 12.0.4518.1014; x; 2; x; x; x; NIL; NIL; NIL.

I don’t know what could be the reason for this but let me tell you that my Office is in German language and the Server 203 is English. However I don’t think this could be the problem. Any suggestion fixing this ?

Yep, you are right, language could not be the problem at all. But similar to you even I don’t have any knowledge about this error hence the only thing I can suggest you is you show check out the procedure for using a
volume licensed Office edition on MS Office Terminal Server in the Office 2007 Resource Kit at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...Net.10%29.aspx

Thanks for starting this topic guys.. even am stuck with the similar error on my Windows Server 2003 R2. I guess you might have even got time to enter the Product key but in my case I event get upto the product key field. It just crashes before it and asks me to send the reports to Microsoft. Damn. Somebody please help.

Well guys I think the problem is related to the security mode. While installing Office 2007 on Terminal server, it (server) should be running full security mode. Anyways, check out the complete troubleshooting steps in this Microsoft KB Article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927476
