SMM(Social media marketing) which is also known as Social Media Optimization is used to provide additional channel for customer support it is basically a media by which one can attract their customer and manage their reputation over the web. Relevance to the customer is the key factor here to get success it is basically used to create content in order to attract the readers and even encourage them to the spread the same on the social networks and in this way one can spread message form user to user as the content or the article is coming from the trusted and the third-party source. You can say that this kind of marketing strategy is running by word-of-mouth and it results in earned media instead of paid media. Hope that helps.

As far as I am aware there are 2 types of SMO methods and they are as followed:

    • First method is adding Social media features to the content such as social news, user rating, RSS feeds, third-party community functionalities for the images and the videos etc
    • Second method is adding Promotional activities in the content which include features such as participating in discussion groups, blogging, posting status updates etc
