Enfield ThunderBird Start Problem : Spark Clutch

Hi,

I own a ThunderBird twins spark and currently facing a problem while starting it. It creates a noise while starting it and when checked with a mechanic got to know that its spark clutch is not performing well. The solution he told me, that either replace it or remove it. But if removing it then it will not give self start.

Does anybody has faced this problem, if yes then kindly let me know the recommended solution. The replacement of spark clutch, as i came to know, is expensive.
