Re: What is Direct Current ?

An alternating current (AC for alternating current in English) is an electrical current where electrons move alternately in one direction then the other at regular intervals called cycles.

The current through power lines is alternating current, like ordinary household electricity from a socket in a wall. The current usually used in the United States is 60 cycles per second (a frequency of 60 Hz) in Europe and in most other parts of the world, it is 50 cycles per second (a frequency of 50 Hz) .

A DC (direct current or DC direct current in English) is an electric current flows when electrons flow continuously in one direction. The current powering a flashlight or other device running on batteries is direct current.

One of the advantages of AC is that it is relatively inexpensive to change the voltage current. Moreover, the energy losses during transportation of the current over a long distance is much lower in the case of alternating current in the case of DC.

Re: What is Direct Current ?

The current (which may be abbreviated as DC, or DC, for Direct Current or Direct Coupling in English, however, is often used), as opposed to alternating current AC (alternating coupling), is an electric current unidirectional current flows continuously in the same direction, the movement of electrons is always in the same direction.

Re: What is Direct Current ?

In a direct current, electrons move in one direction. In an alternating current, the electrons go in both directions because they are influenced in turn by the north pole and south pole of the magnet. In fact, the alternating current changes direction 120 times per second!
