Thanks for this great forum. This is my first post to the forum and I wonder what you people think.

Why people use Twitter? What motivates people to use Twitter? Any ideas? It’s about news or comments?

People do not use twitter, its twitter which promoted themselves to gain traffic...
Twitter only benefits a webber, in other words any person who has a blog, small website, nothing more..

Probably yet another search engine SCAM

i'd say the only reason for using Twitter is the massive promotion along with some cellphones being sold with Twitter functionality.

although, along with Facebook, twitter will die some day when people grow tired of it

Well Twitter is a social networking option. It can be used to track the activities of individuals (provided they update it), promote items, articles, and sites, or just share short pieces of information with those you follow.

I think twitter is a little different from other blog or social-network service.
It's micro-blog.
That means you shall share your thoughts without organizational article structure. That brings people who write micro-blog feel easy to share.

However, I wonder if you guys to compare twitter and plurk.
The latter provide better social-interaction functions I think.
It's strange that people prefer twitter still instead of plurk.
It may concern about previous-advantage or cultural difference.

Have you ever heard of Omegle? Connected, then you can talk to strangers. It was hot. But it's no use for me.
Social media is just like this, many people will choose Twitter or Facebook, no matter for promotional purpose or connection with friends, or just kill some boring time, they exist for some reasons.
I use Twitter, it's just like a wiki, read other's tweets just like reading wiki, you'll learn a lot of stuff that you don't know.

It's a mini blogger.

They use it to find out what their favorite stars are doing.

to add, people Learn Grammar skills and more,
If they didnt have good Grammar who would Chat with them?
Probably little people.

Twitter allows followers to see another side on an individual - not just the business side (linkedin) nor just the Social side (facebook) but both. They get almost immediate answers to questions.......it is valuable so far.

Twitter gives me an immediate pulse on news and events, and what people are talking about, often before any news outlet.

The only reason we need Twitter is to make more money right here right now. In a few months it will start fade out just like MySpace did, just like Facebook did, etc.
Oh, what am I saying. Twitter is already fading out - 60% of new users drop it the next month.

i am very good in forgettin password ...lolz
i registered myslef to Twitter ,and Flickr recently but unable to log in there..
even at facebook i made my account five time but all password i have forgotten .....

I am using twitter since 1 month. Since the basic purpose of the internet is to share the knowledge and to communicate with each other. I can say that Twitter is proven to be the best place where people can share their knowledge and communicate with each other.
