Maharashtra Housing Area Development Authority (MHADA) will hold lottery process on Tuesday to announce the names of applicants, who can own the subsidised houses built by the housing board.

Out of total 4 lack people who have applied for a flat only the lucky 4000 are set to get one. So that makes 1 flat per every hundred applicants. So every individual who have applied have for the flat have only 1% chance of getting it.

Due to several reasons 5,300 applications have been rejected, Chintamani said. "Some applicants are minor and in some cases signature was not proper and forms were not properly filled. In some cases, more than one form was filled by same applicant," Chintamani added.

According to Mhada officials, the authority has received about 4.35 lakh applications for the sale of 3,863 houses. During the scrutiny process about 5300 applications have been rejected.

The post-lottery procedure was completed in three stages. First the offer letter, then the allotment letter and finally the possession letter. Now, with the computerisation of the entire process, the moment a person wins a lottery, he will get an allotment letter which will also bear the house number.
