Yes friend, a nationwide ban on smoking in public places kicks in from Thursday, leaving smokers with very few places to steal a quick smoke in. With the Supreme Court backing the ban and the state governments yet to implement it.

Rs. 200 if you smoke in Public places like railway stations, airports, government offices, all workplaces, educational institutions, libraries, courts, amusement centres like cinema halls etc, hospitals, restaurants, refreshment rooms, discotheques, canteens and private offices like firms of lawyers, architects and private clinics.

Rs.5000 for restaurants and Bar Owners if any one smoke in restaurants and Bar.
