Hi, I have a windows 2003 server with SP2 that I recently promoted to a Domain Controller with DNS. I did not receive the following error until I rebooted: The DNS server encountered error 9002 attempting to load zone "." from Active Directory. The DNS server will attempt to load this zone again on the next timeout cycle. This can be caused by high Active Directory load and may be a transient condition. From what I understand, 2003 purposely does not create a "." zone to keep servers from thinking they are root servers. So of course it can't find the "." zone, because there isn't one. How can I correct this error? Is it a mistake to have 2 DNS servers on the same subnet? We thought having 2 DNS servers would balance the load. Thank you, PJ |

TJ, Thanks for the link to the other threads, but I have looked through all of those and tried the dnscmd /config /bootmethod. Unfortunately, it did not work for me. I have been researching for days and trying different things but to no avail, I have yet to find a solution. Thank you, PJ |
