Windows failed to start after removing alureon.a virus through Windows Defender

My system stopped after I cleaned it with Windows Defender. I got a popup about Trojan. It was alureon.a. Actually I was trying to install a game crack. I downloaded it from torrent and it was having a activator. After installation I got warning about Trojan virus. I ran MSE on offline mode and it showed me the system was cleaned. But it was working extremely slow. Later on I restarted the pc. It stucked on the welcome screen. Sometime it really takes long time to start also.

Your system still has virus. Try to boot in safe mode first. And then scan it back again with MSE. I will here recommend you to go for one more antivirus. MSE works with any other third party security application. So just download Norton or AVG and scan your pc.

Sometime it happens. This kind of infection damage the system registry due to which you land into serious problem. The first thing you have to do is to go in safe mode. Hit F8 on boot constantly. In safe mode search for system restore. Run the same. Choose a really old date in which your system was working fine. This will somehow restore the settings back in which you can work. Later on boot back to normal mode. Remember that it will also restore the virus. So it is essential that you must install a good antivirus also. Instead of relying on a free antivirus utility you must go for a complete edition. They offer you 1 month trail with all activated features. So that is more helpful in dealing with virus instead of relying on a free security stuff. Those antivirus might clean the infection but somehow none of them have features to restore the damage files. For that you have system restore or a complete repair setup. It is always necessary that you must keep a good antivirus installed on your pc before all those things occur.

Never rely on torrent files. They are useless. Ample of them comes with fake crack that adds virus to the pc. I will recommend you to avoid them because I had also gone through serious virus problem which only occurred via torrent files.

First of all you screwed your own system. All are aware that those keygen's, crack's, etc are infected. You cannot run that. And you are dare enough to run that on a pc which has only MSE as the default security application. That means you are the cause of your problem. Now here certain things that can help you is system restore as mentioned above. You said your system failed to boot properly. You will have to download and install a good registry cleaner. This might fix up the boot issue. Also if you are able to get in safe mode it is essential that you must uninstall all unwanted applications. Keeping your system clean with less software will also make the performance good. Because fewer number of programs will generate fewer number of services putting a low impact on the system memory. The last thing that is only going to help you is to run a full repair setup through Windows disc. This will overwrite the damage system files but will not remove the virus.

Go in Control Panel, click on Administrative Tools. In that look for Event Viewer. Click on it and checkout the last error description. You can do that in Safe Mode. Post that complete error log here to get more help on your problem.

I do not think MSE has caused the issue. The antivirus just cleaned the infection. But sometime it happens a antivirus can behave rigorously against infected files. It can simply delete it causing serious bug with the system later on. This is a common issue. While I am using Norton from long time. I had seen this antivirus is capable of keeping your system safe from this kind of infection. It not only protect the pc from different threats, but also if a file is infected by a virus it cleans it. And if you use Norton type of antivirus, you won't be able to run keygens or cracks. Because it will just wipe it out from the source itself when it lands on your hard drive. So if you want to stay on the safer side the first thing you have to do is to avoid downloading pirated games from torrent and second using a good antivirus. Or else be ready to format your system in short time interval.

Just because of that reason I am using Acronis. Great tool. It allows you to create a system image file. When there is a serious system issue, I can completely restore my windows partition. It hardly takes around 10 to 15 minutes. And my system is back as it was before. I will also recommend you to go with the same.
