Error on screen that Avast cannot protect emails

Just got a error on screen saying that Avast cannot protect my emails anymore. I am a bit confused about this error. I was configuring outlook on my system. There are around 4 accounts to sync in this. Suddenly the error appeared on the screen when I tried to open a attachment. There is a video file embedded. I cannot open those attachment blindly without scanning any stuff. Does my antivirus is infected ro something happened to it. I had just recent updated it and there were no errors at that time. Last week there was infection in my system I tried to install a software through keygen. The screen popped with a number of Trojan vundo virus. I deleted those file and found that Avast has properly quarantine all stuffs.

Re: Error on screen that Avast cannot protect emails

Not sure about the settings but recently I had faced a similar issue. I had installed this just a week before. I was not getting email issue, but a error on screen. I did not remember that. But whenever I start my system the error comes on screen and it freezes. I can do nothing in that. The last solution that worked is re-installing it back properly. There is a avast un-installation tool on web. There is no avast listed in control panel. That is the reason many are confused to remove it. You can get that tool and run it. It will wipe out avast completely. Once done you can re-download the fresh copy and install it. That is the only way to fix that error. Or else you might keep on facing that error. I am sure there might be some issue with the avast system files because of which you are getting that error. If you are using a old version then go on the official website and get a new one.

Yes I think that re-installing will fix that issue. Avast is too poor for total internet security. I am talking about the free edition here. The best is to upgrade that for 1 year pro version. The cost is just Rs.999.

Re: Error on screen that Avast cannot protect emails

I too agree a free version is quiet not good for those who have frequent issue of infection. I prefer to go for the pro. There is a internet security pack also which will cost Rs. 1,399.00 for 1 year purchase. I tried to find out on avast forums for solution related to this issue. But there also they mentioned to re-install this back. That means every time when there is error you will need to keep on re-installing this software. That is quiet irritating. Avast do not send any updates for such error, because there is no error reporting tool available in this antivirus. If such tool is present that at the time of error you can send a report directly to avast. It is better if you can post the exact message with error number. Every error message has a error number that can be used to find solution for the same. The issue appears when the web shield is not able to scan your web traffic. It is not able to check your incoming and outgoing data packets. And because of which you can see that error on your screen. Looks the issue lie inside avast.

I have to add something here. I face this when I work on a encrypted connection. Like if I am on a server that ask me to add login information I receive the error. Avast cannot scan encrypted web traffic.

Re: Error on screen that Avast cannot protect emails

I am not able to understand that. Gmails is https when you log in and when you download a file it is scanned by the antivirus. The file does not directly comes to your pc. It is first check by the antivirus and then it is on your hard drive. If there is a virus the antivirus will block the file on the spot. I had found this in Norton and almost all kind of antivirus works in this form. Norton also scans your emails before sending it. So what I will recommend is remove the free edition and upgrade your antivirus to internet security. That is far more better. I actually do not rely on the free version. There are basic level protections and according to me they are not stable. While in pro version you get tech support in case of such errors.

Got that error switch to avg. There are tons of free antivirus on web that you can try out. Get any better free edition on your system and try that. Again if you get any error switch to other.

Re: Error on screen that Avast cannot protect emails

That is not a valid solution. You cannot keep on switching your antivirus. Go in avast event viewer. There are some longs files that can provide you the issue behind the error. Is there any other antivirus installed in your system. That can be the cause of issue. I was using a antispyware before along with avast. After a couple of days I receive some error on the screen. After removing the spyware things go well. Also there can be some compatibility issue. You can try to re-install avast, that is the best solution. You can try to turn off the Mail shield and then turn it on back. Did you seen any Fix now button on Avast. Because when there are such error, you can click on Fix now to run a automated process to troubleshooting this stuff. Avast automatically updates everything and fixes it. Check Real time shield. Turn it off and on a number of time and see that you are getting the error or not.

Re: Error on screen that Avast cannot protect emails

I was having a issue with avast when I try to scan a file by right clicking on it. Avast loads slowly and then there is a error on the screen. After that I upgraded the version and the problem is gone.

Re: Error on screen that Avast cannot protect emails

If you think there is a virus on your system then there is a online scanner by avast. You can run that to find if there is any pending infection in your system. Free antivirus just gives you two options. First it blocks antivirus and spyware from entering in your system and second it gives you a simple tech support. There is no appropriate firewall added in the free edition. You can face such kind of common issue unless you upgrade to the pro. The pro edition provides you web security support while surfing, better firewall, antispam, etc. I will advice you once to go on web and see the comparison list of free and other pro edition. You can find the difference.
