Re: Windows XP infected by nginx virus

Before following any advance troubleshooting I would like to suggest you to perform clean boot. To perform clean boot you need to go through the below steps. Click on start > Run and type msconfig. you get system configuration utility windows and under that go to Startup tab and then uncheck process that you don’t want at startup. Now in service tab make check mark on the ‘Hide all Microsoft Services' and click on Disable All button. Reboot and check back.

If you’re using web/proxy server then try to flush cache pages and then make sure that Welcome to NGINX virus removed or not. Along with this I would also suggest you to delete browsing history from your browser, here is steps to delete browsing history:
  • Internet explorer: Menu > Internet Options > History > Delete.
  • Mozilla Firefox: Tools > Options > Advance tab > Clear Now button under Cached Web Content dialog box. Now go to Offline Web Content and User Data section and then click on Clear Now button.
  • Google Chrome: Click on Settings > Clear browsing data.

There are lots of third party software like DSSKiller and Anvi Smart Defender. Download anyone one of them and run a full scan with TDSSKiller or Anvi Smart Defender. This will help you to remove nginx virus.

Re: Windows XP infected by nginx virus

Even I have got this same virus and I have managed to solve this through registry entey. Run registry editor via click start > run > type regedit.
Quote:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run“[random].exe”
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\”Shell” = “[random].exe”
Now once you removed all keys related to nginx virus, reboot system.
