Does every computer have a modem?

I don’t have much knowledge about computer, so that is why I wanted to know does every computer have modem in it?

No, Only laptops come with in-built modems. So that they can be connected with wireless network .Some of the old computers had modem in it, but not anymore.

Most of the older computers had dial-up modem , they had similar ports like Ethernet card. Now computers only have Ethernet port so that you can connect to fastest internet modems or routers.

If you have DSL connection then they provide separate box that is the actual modem. Sometimes modem comes with router in it. it helps you to connect to internet through WI-FI or Ethernet cable to your phone-lines.

If you want to know whether your computer has a built-in modem or not follow these steps:
1.Go to Start menu
2.Now go to Control panel
3.Click on hardware and sound
4.Now go to device manager, it will show you all the hardware parts and modems installed on your pc.
5.Now click on the “Modems” category, it will have list of all the modems connected with your computer.

All the laptops have wireless internet cards. According to the brand of the laptop they will be labeled somewhere on the sides of the laptop. Sometimes they have “on/off” switch for Wi-Fi.
